About Us
The Bay of Plenty Trailer Yacht Squadron was incorporated in July 1974. It is based in the city of Rotorua and operates from its marina at Okawa Bay situated next to Lake Rotoiti. BOPTYS has approximately 130 members with various classes of trailer yachts, multi hulls and small keelers. Trailer yachts are administered by the New Zealand Trailer Yacht Association. There are well over 160 trailer yacht designs registered with NZTYA in New Zealand.
BOPTYS is the second largest trailer yacht club and the largest in the North Island of New Zealand. We have a proud history with a proven record of champions in both Provincial, National and International events and especially social activites.
The Rotorua Lakes are a national treasure, renowned for both their beauty and uncluttered sailing area. World class trout fishing in all our trophy lakes is easily accessible from our trailer yachts.
